I made a custom head cabinet for the amp portion of this all original 90’s 2X12 combo amp so that I could effectively place the cab in another room while capturing for the purest and easiest way to dial in tone. The 2X12 Vox combo cab is all original and holds the original 90’s Celestion G12M Greenback speakers that have the “6402” stamp—some of the most coveted greenbacks out there. I also used a Fane F25 speaker for the single coil captures (WRM) for a bit of variety.

Captured with the new TONEX V2 Modeler set to “Extended Training” for the highest quality possible. All V2 captures, no matter the manufacturer, are perfectly in phase (polarity) with each other and have the same amount of latency. I also made sure all of my V1 captures are in polarity with the new V2 captures so you can mix and match if you wish. See this video for details.

FAVS
You’ll see a folder called “FAVS” which is where I will include my favorite captures from each pack. These are carefully dialed in to pair well with all the other FAVS and also represent my favorite captures of each pack. When importing these, please use the “Preset” NOT the “Tone Model”. When importing a “Preset” in your TONEX, it imports my preferred EQ/Gain/Volume settings which is very important if you plan on pairing this with other FAVS from other amp packs. The “Tone Model” is the base capture with no EQ tweaks and will not match perfectly with the others. See my HB FAVS VOL 1 video.

This takes my original capture and just adds some EQ to take away some lows and mids. There’s a similar preset for the PROSON that this pairs well with.
Only available for ToneX as it’s not a unique capture, but simply a preset with EQ applied. You can apply the same kind of EQ in the QC if you’d like. Simply lower the Bass to -3 or -4 and the Mids to -1 or -2.

This particular Fender Prosonic was made in 1997 and has all original parts. The 60W Prosonic with two 10” Custom Shop Celestion speakers was designed by tone legend Bruce Zinky and has some similar features as a Mesa / BOOGIE amp. This amp can go from sparkling Fender cleans all the way to classic hark rock grind. It’s a much different flavor than a traditional scooped blackface many are familiar with. It has a lot more mids and a really warm saturation. Some say this may be one of the best Fender amps ever made. But we’ll let the captures do the talking!

The Dr. Z Z-80 is Mike's "legacy" amp and is the result of 6 years of fine tuning and perfecting the coveted and uber-rare Vox AC80 circuit. The Doc and Brad Paisley worked together on getting this amp to sound just like the original while also ensuring it was road ready. The Z-80 isn’t just a higher powered version of a vintage AC30, however, rather it stands on its own sonic territory, offering a more focused low end, tighter breakup, and crystal clear highs. This 2005 Bad Cat Tone Cat is a very rare amp from the glory days of Bad Cat. The Tone Cat is not just a 2 channel amplifier, it is actually two completely separate amps in one chassis! The “Clean” side is the same as the 12AX7 channel on a Black Cat (think DC30) and the “Gain” side is the dirty side of a Hot Cat, which offers complex driven and crunchy lead tones. The two sides can also be mixed together and the order can be swapped as well. There are tones galore in this amp and it will have me exploring it for a long time to come!
This particular amp has the “M.S.” inscription on the inside making it a Mark Sampson era Bad Cat. This amp absolutely sings and is sure to scratch that Bad Cat / Matchless itch. It’s “THE” sound!
